With more than 8,000 years of history, our city, Kashan, is a centre of prehistoric
civilisation. The city started afresh after being levelled by an earthquake in 1778.
Today it is a tourist attraction due to the numerous beautiful large houses from
the 18th and 19th centuries. The city is continually regenerating itself, but this
transformation is causing serious disharmony to its original layout and
architecture. ‘The Wall Collection’ shows humankind’s thirst to modernise the
environment, with thoroughfares cutting historic houses into two, leaving
destruction, incoherence and ugliness behind.
