First Kayah State Photo Festival

After Shan, Karen and Chin States, the first Kayah Photo Festival is taking place in Loikaw from November 21 to December 15. Thanks to ILO, the French Embassy and Canon, 35 journalists, students and CSO members are being trained  by PhotoDoc trainers to produce photo-stories about social, environmental and cultural issues. Their short documentaries will be screened to the public on December 15 in the compound of Christ the King Cathedral at 5 pm. An exhibition by British photographer James Henry Green about will be also presented on the grounds of the Cultural Museum of Loikaw. Green was a British officer who travelled to the most remote regions of Burma between the two world wars. This documentary work is a unique visual catalogue of Burma’s exceptional ethnic diversity housed in the Royal Pavilion, Libraries and Museums, Brighton, UK.
